Italy
I studied art in Siena, Italy in 1967, and was transformed. The Italians have a very old culture, and they are very expressive. I had the opportunity to study Medieval and Renaissance art, and spent time walking on very old cobblestone streets, feeling the energy of the place and seeing beautiful frescoes in the museums and churches. The Italians love color and style, as well as food and the preparation of it, which was a big influence on me. They are also sensual people, and I came to value all of these attributes as I became an adult and artist. These photographs are selected from trips to Tuscany and Emiglia Romana in the 1990's.
